Discovering the Roots of Our Food: An Exclusive with Jade Revell

Ever wondered where your food really comes from? Join us as we dive into the fascinating world of agriculture and history with Jade Revell, a passionate writer and historian who’s making waves with her insightful content.

Meet Jade Revell Hi, I’m Jade! I live in the South-West of France with my young family and a lively menagerie of dogs, a cat, chickens, geese, and even one duck. Originally from Cambridge, UK, I’ve found my home here amidst the rolling fields and vibrant local culture. As a writer and historian, my special focus is on the history of food and understanding the origins of what we eat today. 

The Spark Behind the Content My fascination with agriculture and its evolution over the last millennium drives my content creation. The production of food has affected our history more than we might realize, like it did in WWII for example – it has always been implicated in our survival and community at every level. 

Unique Farming in the South-West of France Living in a highly arable region, I’m surrounded by an incredible variety of crops. A drive through our local area reveals fields brimming with everything from corn to those famous happy sunflowers. The French way of eating local and in-season produce has influenced my writing and I want to highlight the importance of supporting local producers. 

Busting Farming Myths One common misconception I’m eager to dispel is that farming is dominated by large-scale producers. In reality, countless small, passionate farmers are producing high-quality food right in our backyards. My mission is to shine a light on these local heroes and encourage others to seek them out.

What’s Next? I’m thrilled to announce upcoming content that explores making food and drinks our ancestors would have enjoyed, using local, in-season produce. I will be revealing the long history behind tasty ingredients and showing you how you can recreate historical recipes today.
